MODERN TRENDS IN VEGETABLE CROPS BREEDING
The fraction composition and content of phenolic compounds in vegetable plants with high content of polyphenols is presented. The developed functional foods is a complex of antioxidants such as dehydro- quercetine, quercetine, rutin, amaranthine, etc., which can be used for immune system reinforcement, against dysbacteriosis, and promotion of health.
Using two mapping populations of DH lines of Brassica rapa (DH30, obtained by crossing of turnip and yellow sarson, and DH38, obtained by crossing of pakchoi and yellow sarson) the QTL analysis of five biochemical traits of quality was done. For the first time in Russia, for each investigated trait was determined QTL, as well as the effects of action of reviled QTL, percent of phenotype variability for each QTL and molecular markers genetically linked with identified QTL. Reviled molecular markers can be used as effective tool upon mass screening of collection and breeding material for biochemical traits of quality.
The article describes a technique for overcoming the unilateral cross- incompatibility of of sweet pepper cultivars Belosnezhka and Karlik (Capsicum annuumL.) by pre- coating the stigma of the parental plants by own frozen pollen (fertile, but lost fertilizing capacity) in order to initiate the necessary changes in the tissues of the pistil that ensures germination of pollen tubes of foreign pollen , successful fertilization and hybrid seeds formation.
SEED PRODUCTION AND SEED STUDIES OF VEGETABLE CROPS
AGRARIAN SCIENCE IN THE WORLD
The experiment was performed in the Maritsa Vegetable Crops Research Institute, Plovdiv and Experimental station, Samokov during the period 2009-2011. The aim of this study was to investigate yield structure in the production of certified seeds from Bulgarian potato varieties. Three factors field experiment was set with 12 combinations with established effect of the factors - fertilization rate, planting density and term of leaf striping on the yield of the variants. The total yield in production of certified seeds from Bulgarian potato varieties varies from 2282 to 3556 kg/da. The standard yield of the seed fractions increases significantly with the increase of planting density and decrease of the duration of term of leaf striping.
PLANTS PHYSIOLOGY AND PHYTOCHEMISTRY
Selenium accumulation level in basil plants is investigated. A direct correlation between selenium concentration and essential oil content is demonstrated for basil and other aroma plants. No correlation is found between selenium and flavonoids.
The results of study of 21 collection samples for variability of the biochemical composition of green beans are presented. The best selected samples characterized by stable content of total sugars, dry matter, and diet fiber are recommended for use in breeding program for development of new improved varieties of vegetable beans.
12 samples of carrot were analyzed for biochemical components in roots. 5 genotypes with high content of vitamin C, β-carotene, and total sugar were selected as genetic sources of high biochemical components.
Adaptive capacity of perennial plants to low temperatures and its role in the formation of high-quality crops with minimal losses during storage has been studied. According to the changes occurring in plants at low temperatures the possibility of effective forecasting of plant products to cold storage has been found.
The influence of the state of water in plant tissue on the physico- chemical properties of plant products and processes occurring in it was studied. It is shown that the ratio of free and bound water fractions in the tissue influences the mass loss of plant products during storage. The ratio between free and bound water in the plant tissue depends on the activity of physiological processes in it, which determines the intensity of the loss of nutrients.
AGRICULTURALMANAGEMENT
Agriculture is one of the most risky sectors of any economy. Modern science and practice have developed various methods to reduce the riskiness of production, such as avoiding the risk, hedging, diversification and insurance. In this article we discuss ways to reduce these risks of production.
PROBLEMS OF STORAGE AND PROCESSING OF VEGETABLE PRODUCTS
The seven-day recipe composition of lunch dishes for social nutrition of target groups of consumers was developed. The main components of this recipe are vegetables.
The article presents the results of a study of different varieties of grape leaves showing its morphological data and physico-chemical parameters. Studying shows canned grape leaf in various ways for the food industry.
PLANT PROTECTION
The resistance of breeding verities of cabbage to Plasmodiophora brassicae on infection background in laboratory and field conditions of the Moscow region has been studied. Selected cabbage varieties resistant to Plasmodiophora brassicae are used in breeding process.
Trial was carried out to survey the different rates of new generation post-emergence herbicide 'Verdict' in four levels involving: 0, 0.2, 0.3 and 0.5 kg ha-1 to suppress three weeds species; Chenopodium album, Poaceae sp. and Stelaria media. Experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design [CRD] with four treatments in four replications. Weeds growth diminished mostly for verdict 0.5 kg ha-1 and then 0.3 kg ha-1 compared to 0.2 kg ha-1 and control, results of the trial revealed that a satisfactory survival reduction of Chenopodium album, poaceae and also Stelaria media were achieved with labeled-dose of verdict as 0.5 kg ha-1 and also intermediate dose 0.3 kg ha-1. In contrast, the minimum dose 0.2 kg ha-1 had a significantly highest weeds survival about three varieties of mentioned weeds in comparison with other higher doses of herbicide.
AGROTECHNICS OF VEGETABLE CROPS
In field experiments, the optimal pre-irrigation moisture levels of the soil, plant density and fertilizer regulations to ensure maximizing the table beet crops with good qualities of roots under foothill zone of the Chechen Republic have been found.
The optimal scheme and plant density of non-seedling tomato culture for seed production purposes in condition of Dagestan Studied were determined.
The results of three-year study of density of cucumber seed-plants when using drop irrigation in condition and planting system 50+90 сm are shown. The optimal plant density for seed production purposes is 70 thousand plants on 1 hectare.
STANDARDS FOR SEEDS AND VEGETABLE PRODUCTS
Control of seed production of vegetable crops based on factor of quality is become the basis of modern management. There is a growing need in the fastresponse devices for determination of moisture and temperature in seeds and environment.
